Quaky cat
14 December 2010
Last week we were lucky to meet Diana Noonan at the opening of our new library. Diana was in Christchurch to launch her new book Quaky cat which is illustrated by Gavin Bishop. This book was written for everyone in Christchurch who went through the disastrous 7.1 earthquake on September 4 this year. As a way of helping children deal with this disaster and the continued aftershocks, Scholastic have given a copy to all year one and two children in the earthquake area. This is a wonderful book and many of you will have read it by now as the books were given out on Friday.
Only Christchurch businesses were used and both the author and illustrator are donating all their royalties to charity.
Many of us can relate to our pet cats and dogs going missing in the earthquake and this book reassures us everything will be okay in the end.
You can even buy copies of the artwork in this book from www.gavinbishop.com
You can also see the original artwork on display at the Te Tai Tamariki Gallery, First floor 87 Victoria St
Christchurch. Open 14 - 24th December
