There are heaps of reviews, author and illustrator links, and book trailer links. There are games to play on the homework page and ideas for parents as well.
Feel free to leave a comment on any of the posts.Desnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18156355226913052380noreply@blogger.comBlogger212125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098795068876734514.post-90750614372556485012011-02-07T13:34:00.002+13:002011-02-07T13:43:26.057+13:00GrimsonGrimsdon
by Deborah Abela

Desnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18156355226913052380noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098795068876734514.post-82014767547752207792011-01-30T14:56:00.008+13:002011-01-30T16:12:35.174+13:00The billionaire's curseThis is the first book trailer for the year. Diana was in Christchurch to launch her new book Quaky cat which is illustrated by Gavin Bishop. This book was written for everyone in Christchurch who went through the disastrous 7.1 earthquake on September 4 this year. As a way of helping children deal with this disaster and the continued aftershocks, Scholastic have given a copy to all year one and two children in the earthquake area. This is a wonderful book and many of you will have read it by now as the books were given out on Friday.
Only Christchurch businesses were used and both the author and illustrator are donating all their royalties to charity.

Many of us can relate to our pet cats and dogs going missing in the earthquake and this book reassures us everything will be okay in the end.

You can even buy copies of the artwork in this book from www.gavinbishop.com
You can also see the original artwork on display at the Te Tai Tamariki Gallery, First floor 87 Victoria St
Christchurch. Open 14 - 24th December
5-29 January Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pmDesnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18156355226913052380noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098795068876734514.post-4891822972722828992010-12-14T13:35:00.004+13:002010-12-14T13:51:47.298+13:00Opening of the new library<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg117Fd-UHyWiPxZynRbf9rtC1FpzpFO_KVvyHvxVVHq5eIw7tD4wOc4b21s2qIez4KT6V1G0POc5EIWUGQcp9Mz9-n1kJ7SgG61AY0KybAQHqytoYhOx7FfdvB-vlcFvuqG86oOJ73Xnc/s320/DSC_1462.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550332576841234114" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBJNPNYddtSAnboIrkUehub3C5bztfkbkzlWBbKkfrHxly8a_I24uPJ1F-sh8ZsnFIEd9A6dqQVCf9Nh7e5CKPNtcEkz7W_f0y-ufLysgo4QbIx0a8_BvYobmsvT2CYO6e7j5CSgWel-A/s320/DSC_1413.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550332574276803378" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_lcZj0bp5Lh9HY57UcYs1ski62EH4VbroCo89CemKg8GE6PT5x94NNRuupqG3ywGvesO8B1HI9CBGFosYkmiCRa4vpmT1tDvP2VBjdaQKF_HtQT7CyQB8KAGBTmU5bVJO1aS8jDTW6GE/s320/DSC_1431.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550332565848428434" />

Well the long wait is over and we have had our official opening.
It was a great day with the sun shining and a gentle breeze.
Miles Kau Kau blessed the new library.
Our kapahaka children performed wonderfully.
Then we were so lucky so have Diana Noonan talk about what libraries and books meant to her when she was a child.
Diana Noonan has written a number of children's books including "The best loved bear".

The children also handed over a cheque to Mr Sibson for $30,000. This was money for the new library which was raised by the brilliant PTA team. Without their help we would not have the lovely new furniture or shelving.
Thank you to everyone involved.Desnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18156355226913052380noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098795068876734514.post-26207316236293197232010-11-23T13:05:00.006+13:002010-11-24T09:57:53.379+13:00Shadow
23 November 2010

Shadow

by Michael Morpurgo

This is a story told in three voices.
